What type of file should be uploaded for images?
We accept both .jpeg/.jpg and .tif/.tiff images.
Most of our templates have been designed around a standard digital camera image proportions which feature a 4 to 3 ratio. We highly suggest using images that emphasize the feature you are trying to capture. If your image is not of a 4 to 3 ratio, you will be asked to crop your photos using our online tool.
Are my images the right resolution?
Raster graphics such as TIF and JPEG files must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch). Images with a resolution less than 300 dpi will reproduce poorly when printed (the image will look fuzzy and/or pixilated). If you took your images from a website on the internet, there is a 90% chance that they will not contain be a high enough resolution for printing (unless the images came from a stock photography house and are designated high resolution). Please make sure your images meet the requirement of the template you are using. Below the images you upload there will be a rating on the resolution of the image.
The internet displays images at 72 dpi, so that the images appear quickly over an internet connection, but under no circumstances should they be used for printing. If you submit low-resolution files, we will require you to check a box acknowledging that you are aware of the resulting loss of quality, and that as the customer you are OK with that.
When viewing your online proof, the proof will be a low resolution version of exactly how your final product will print. This proof is used for layout purposes only. We have sampled your original images and are displaying a low resolution proof. You will receive a file that contains the original high resolution photos that were uploaded.
What are RGB and CMYK color modes?
Most graphics software programs give you the choice to work in either RGB or CMYK color mode. Scanners and digital cameras create images and computer monitors display images using combinations of just three colors: Red, Green and Blue (RGB). These are the primary colors of light, which computer monitors use to display images on your screen.
Most printers produce full color pictures and images using a different set of colors, the primary colors of pigment: Cyan (blue), Magenta (red), Yellow and Black (CMYK). This is "4-color process" or "full-color" printing that comprises the majority of magazines and marketing materials you see every day.
If you have not created your digital layout or design using CYMK color space to begin with, at some point your RGB file must be translated to CMYK in order to print it on a printer or press. If you wish to have more control over the conversion of these images, please convert them before uploading.
